Son under Room Arrest
Wednesday, June 10, 2009
My driver's younger brother, Arshad, remained under room arrest for four days. The boy had been sent by his father to Rawalpindi (some three hundred kilometers away) to work. Arshad left the place of work, came back to his home town and stayed with a friend for three days. His friend brought Arshad to his home and handed him over to his father. Arshad's father gave him a thorough beating and locked him in a room. Arshad's grandmother intervened, pursuaded Arshad to apologize from his father and had Arshad released. How Arshad behaves now onward is an open question.
