Senators Demand Restoration of Hajj quota
Sunday, June 21, 2009
Senators on Saturday, by and large, unanimously protested the withdrawal of parliamentarians’ Hajj quota and demanded its restoration. The senators also demanded that the private tour operators’ quota should be abolished as the tour operators blackmailed the applicants and extolled money.
If the latter is true, which is quite likely, what about the former? The parliamentarians want restoration of Hajj quota so as to please the selected people of their constituencies; and, that, too, on a matter pertaining to one of our religious obligations. I agree with the senators' demand to abolish the Hajj quota of tour operators but the worthy senators are contradicting themselves by seeking the same quota for parliamentarians as they are no angels either.
