EU Rejects Trade but 'Aids'
Friday, June 19, 2009
The EU, at the first summit with Pakistan in Brussels, has ignored President Zardari's call for trade concessions but extended 20 million Euros in aid for the IDPs. All what has been agreed upon is well short of Pakistan's expectations. But, as they say, something is better than nothing.
It's strange that, on one hand, America and the developed world call Pakistan as the front line state against War on Terror, and, on the other hand, once it comes to deeds the formers do not follow their own words. USA named Pakistan as its non NATO ally but we don't see US supporting Pakistan like it supports its allies. Pakistan needs to seriously reflect as the aid being received for the large scale military operations being undertaken in the name of war on terror doesn't turn out to be AIDS.
